Real Madrid’s squad for the match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday did not include the duo Thibaut Courtois and Antonio Rudiger, and the reason is injury.
According to the newspaper “AS”, Rudiger suffered from the flu, and because of that he did not participate in Real Madrid’s last two training sessions and it was decided to keep him out of the match against Rayo.
As for Courtois, he has a slight muscle discomfort, and Carlo Ancelotti preferred not to risk him and cause an overload that would keep him out of the stadiums for a period.
David Alaba is expected to participate in the starting lineup for the second match in a row in La Liga, this time alongside Raul Asensio to replace Rudiger in the heart of the defense.
On the other hand, Andriy Lunin will have a rare opportunity to play in La Liga in light of Courtois’ injury.
AS confirmed that there is no risk to Rudiger and Courtois’ participation in the most important match against Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, next Wednesday.
