Real Madrid’s management has taken a new decision to secure the Royal Club’s goalkeeper following the confirmation of the end of Thibaut Courtois’ season.
The Belgian suffered a tear in the cartilage in his right knee a few days after returning from the cruciate ligament injury, and he already underwent surgery on Wednesday and began to recover.
According to the Relivo network, Florentino Perez’s management will offer a new contract to replacement goalkeeper Andrey Lunin in the next few days.
The Ukrainian international’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, and after the amazing performance he has shown this season, Real Madrid’s management decided it was necessary to continue him for a longer period.
The decision to renew Lunin’s contract also comes in order to confirm absolute confidence in him, and with it he will be ready and his morale will increase before the important period that Real Madrid will enter in the coming period.
As for Lunin, he welcomes staying at Real Madrid and accepts the idea of competing with Courtois, especially since the Belgian will need more time to regain his level, which is in the Ukrainian’s interest.
It is noteworthy that this step will mark the end of Kepa’s journey at the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the current season and his return to Chelsea next season.
