Marca newspaper reported that Real Madrid’s management reached an agreement with Ferland Mendy to renew his contract for two additional years.
The French international’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and the main idea of the Merengue management was to bring in Alphonso Davies next year in a free deal to support the left flank.
Despite the urgent desire to include the Bayern Munich star, coach Carlo Ancelotti was determined that Mendy was an essential piece in his team that he could not do without.
The Italian coach, in addition to the player’s performances since last season until now, succeeded in convincing Florentino Perez’s management to stick with Mendy and renew his contract.
According to Marca newspaper, Mendy will receive a salary increase and will sign the renewal contracts within hours until the summer of 2027.
Mendy will be the second player to renew his contract at Real after goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who will continue as goalkeeper at Santiago Bernabeu for another 4 years.
