Real Madrid suffers a huge economic loss due to the Champions League!

The newspaper “AS” reported that Real Madrid suffered a huge economic loss due to its failure to practically occupy one of the top eight places in the Champions League.

Real Madrid only won two matches from the first 5 rounds in the Champions League, to achieve 6 points, which puts it in 24th place, which is the last qualifying position for the round of 16 play-off.

The report said that the teams that qualify directly to the round of 16 from the league stage, i.e. the first 8 teams, receive 11 million euros from UEFA.

But in the case of Real Madrid, and the only solution is to qualify through the play-off, the Spanish club will only earn one million euros, and the difference between them is very large.

At the same time, thanks to losing 3 matches against Lille, Milan and Liverpool, Real Madrid missed the opportunity to earn an additional 6 million euros.

The winner of a Champions League match is awarded €2.1 million, and Real Madrid have won only twice, against Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund, to receive €4.2 million, which would have become €10.5 million if they had won the rest of the matches.

All of this increases the pressure on Carlo Ancelotti’s team to win against Atalanta and secure qualification to the play-offs, otherwise Real Madrid could suffer an even greater economic loss that would make their financial situation even worse.
