Real Madrid vs Osasuna referee punished after serious mistakes

The Spanish refereeing committee imposed a preliminary penalty on referee Luis Munuera Montero for his serious mistakes in the Real Madrid vs Osasuna match.

Montero had sent off Jude Bellingham, failed to award 3 penalties to Real Madrid, and awarded a controversial penalty to Osasuna that led to a 1-1 draw.

After Real Madrid announced its anger and went to the Spanish Federation headquarters to discuss the refereeing crises it has been suffering from recently, it seems that the refereeing committee decided to show a reaction.

According to the “Relevo” network, Montero has been punished by excluding him from the matches of the twenty-fifth round of the Spanish League, and he will not work either as a field referee or a video referee.

Montero’s suspension will most likely not be for one round, but may extend to two weeks or a month, just as happened previously with Gil Manzano when he committed serious mistakes in the Real Madrid vs Valencia match.

It remains to be noted that the future of the Spanish refereeing committee is at stake, as the Spanish Federation is considering dismissing its president and members as a first step to restructuring refereeing and calming down the very angry La Liga clubs.
