Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is performing uniquely this season, and he succeeded in removing Kepa from the starting position, but he will not receive the Zamora Award for the best goalkeeper in La Liga.
The Zamora Award is given annually to the goalkeeper who has kept the most clean sheets in La Liga, and so far numerically, Lunin is the best by keeping a clean sheet in 9 matches and conceding 11 goals.
However, for Lunin to win the award, he must play 28 matches in La Liga, while if he continues to participate until the final round, he will only have participated in 26 matches.
Thus, Lunin is out of the race currently led by Unai Simon, goalkeeper of Athletic Bilbao, and Alex Remiro, goalkeeper of Real Sociedad, although their average goals conceded are more than Kepa.
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has the opportunity to win the award for the second year in a row, but he needs to participate in all of Barcelona’s matches until the final round.
It is noteworthy that Thibaut Courtois is the only goalkeeper who succeeded in winning the Zamora Award with Real Madrid, after he won the award in the 2018-2019 season and for the first time since Iker Casillas in the 2008-2009 season.
