Real Madrid’s enemy to referee Copa del Rey final Clásico

The Spanish Football Federation has announced the referee for the 2025 Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The renowned referee Ricardo de Burgos will officiate the Clásico, known for his unpopularity with Real Madrid in particular.

Last season, the 38-year-old referee was criticized by Real Madrid’s channel for making mistakes in the Sevilla match, labeling him an “enemy of Real Madrid.”

Overall, this will be the fourth Clásico the Basque referee has officiated, and the third final overall between the two giants of Spanish football.

His first Clásico was in 2017, when Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 in the Super Cup. He then officiated the 2023 Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia, when Barça beat Los Blancos 3-1.

The last Clásico De Burgos attended was in March 2023, when Barcelona won 2-1 in La Liga.

It’s worth noting that the relationship between Carlo Ancelotti and De Burgos isn’t the best. The Italian coach once became extremely angry with him during the famous Sevilla match, telling him, “Don’t touch me or talk to me.”
