Real Madrid announced the renewal of Dani Carvajal’s contract for a year, a few hours after the major injury he suffered in the Villarreal match.
Carvajal suffered three ligaments in his right knee, and as a result, he is not expected to return to the pitch before a year from now.
The Spanish international’s contract with Real Madrid was due to expire in the summer of 2025, and over the past month, it was reported that Florentino Perez’s administration was planning to renew the contract and negotiations with him would begin soon.
After the sudden and severe injury, the royal club decided to show its support as much as possible, and renewed the 34-year-old’s contract until June 2026.
Real Madrid wrote in its statement, “Real Madrid wants to express its full support and appreciation for Carvajal, and wishes him a speedy recovery so that we can enjoy him on the pitch as soon as possible.”
It is noteworthy that Carvajal won 26 titles with Real Madrid, including 6 Champions League titles, and also won the Euro 2024 title with Spain last summer.
