Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced his squad for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
The squad includes some very positive news for the club: Kylian Mbappé’s return, after much doubt was raised about his availability for El Clásico following his ankle sprain against Arsenal last week.
Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy has finally returned to Real Madrid after more than a month and a half out with an injury.
Marca reported that Ancelotti intends to rely on Mendy as a starter and sees him as the only one capable of stopping Lamine Yamal.
However, the Italian will have to wait until the last minute to assess the Frenchman’s fitness, otherwise he will be forced to rely on Fran Garcia, an option he sees as too risky.
Despite Ancelotti’s comments after the Getafe match about David Alaba’s muscle injury, he included the Austrian international in the squad and expects him to be on the bench.
Real Madrid’s absences will be limited to Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, along with the recently injured Eduardo Camavinga.
Real Madrid’s squad for the upcoming El Clásico is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Lunin, Fran Gonzalez.
Defenders: David Alaba, Lucas Vázquez, Jesus Vallejo, Fran Garcia, Antonio Rüdiger, Ferland Mendy, Raúl Asensio.
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, Luka Modrić, Tchouameni, Arda Güler, Dani Ceballos.
Forwards: Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappé, Rodrygo, Endrick, Brahim Díaz.
