Al-Kass channel revealed that one of Al-Ahly players is on his way to move to the Qatari club Al-Shamal for free at the end of the current season.
The contracts of Akram Tawfik, Percy Tau, Amr El-Sulaya, Ali Maaloul, Yasser Ibrahim and Taher Mohamed Taher with Al-Ahly expire at the end of the current season.
The Qatari channel did not reveal the identity of the player, but Egyptian media reported that Al-Shamal is closest to negotiating with Akram Tawfik.
There is a major dispute between Al-Ahly management and Akram Tawfik regarding the renewal, as the player is asking for more than 20 million pounds as a salary, while the Red Castle’s offer does not exceed 15 million pounds.
It seems that the midfielder has decided to leave the Red Castle, in light of what was reported that Al-Shamal offered him a fabulous salary that may reach 100 million pounds annually.
It is worth noting that Al-Shamal is ranked fifth in the Qatari league this season, and includes a number of famous players, most notably Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah.
