Renowned journalist Mario Cortegana has revealed that Saudi league officials have attempted to recruit Vinicius Junior, presenting him with an astronomical offer in recent weeks.
Saudi officials continue their efforts to bring in the world’s best players, a trend that began with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in the winter of 2023 and continued with the additions of Neymar and Karim Benzema, among others.
The latest attempt was to sign Vinicius, who, according to Cortegana, received an offer that could not be described in financial terms, along with an appointment as a Saudi ambassador ahead of the 2034 World Cup.
However, the player responded by categorically rejecting the offer, as the Brazilian is determined to stay with Real Madrid and achieve both individual and collective success.
The Saudis will not stop trying after Vinicius’ rejection, as a journalist from Marca and The Athletic indicates that officials will try again with Vinicius soon, and if things don’t work out this summer, they will try again next year.
The biggest problem is not Vinicius’ approval, but Real Madrid’s. The player’s contract runs until the summer of 2027 and includes a €1 billion release clause.
As for Florentino Pérez’s administration, there is no intention of selling the 24-year-old, regardless of the offers. The player is a key piece and is expected to create a formidable partnership with Kylian Mbappé to write a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
