Saudi media reports have indicated that Barcelona management has offered the services of Ilkay Gundogan to Al-Nassr, aiming to secure a deal during the remaining days of the summer transfer window.
Spanish newspaper “Sport” revealed that the German star has informed Barcelona’s management of his desire to leave the Catalan club, and Joan Laporta’s administration welcomes his departure as long as they can gain some financial benefit from his transfer.
For this reason, Barcelona’s management has leveraged its strong relationships in Saudi Arabia and offered Gundogan to Al-Nassr, with the hope that “the Knights of Najd” will pay a significant amount to acquire the German national team captain.
Barcelona aims to offload Gundogan to free up his salary, allowing them to register new players and generate some funds to alleviate the club’s severe financial crisis.
On the other hand, Gundogan has not yet made a final decision. Although he desires a departure, he still harbors a conflicting desire to remain at Barcelona, especially since the Blaugrana coach, Hansi Flick, has predicted the player’s eventual stay.
Galatasaray has emerged as a potential destination for Gundogan, but the Turkish club has requested that the player first terminate his contract with Barcelona before signing a free transfer.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old has offered his services to Manchester City, but he has yet to receive a final response from his former club.
