A journalist close to Real Madrid, Ramon Alvarez, claimed that Luka Modric has decided to leave the Royal Club at the end of this season.
Despite recent rumors that Modric wants to continue at Real Madrid and feels comfortable there, the reality is that the player’s departure is now certain.
According to what Alvarez said, Modric has made his decision not to renew his contract with the Royal Club, and believes that it is time to take a new step that may be the last in his exceptional football career.
The Croatian star is supposed to meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez during the next few days and inform him of the matter and end this controversy.
Modric’s new destination is still unknown, as the 39-year-old player is receiving interest from American clubs as well as from several clubs in the Saudi League.
Modric’s role with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad declined this season, as most of his appearances were as a substitute, which greatly angered him.
Over the course of this season, Modric participated in 42 matches in all tournaments, during which he was able to score two goals and assist 7 others, winning the La Liga title and contributing to the Merengues reaching the Champions League final.
