The newspaper “Sport” reported that Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona player, has largely ended his season and will not be able to participate in any other match with the Catalan club this season.
De Jong went off injured in the final minutes of the first half of the El Clasico match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
According to the report, De Jong suffers from a severe ankle sprain, which is the third time he has suffered the same injury this season.
The initial diagnosis confirms that De Jong will not be able to play any of Barcelona’s remaining six matches in La Liga, and he will need at least one to two months to recover.
Thus, De Jong’s participation in Euro 2024 with the Netherlands national team is also in doubt, and it is not possible to say for sure yet, which will depend on how quickly he recovers.
