Manchester City star Rodri expressed his overwhelming happiness at winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or, and told the story of his struggle that led him to the Chatelet stage with the most expensive individual award in football.
Rodri said, “It’s a magical night for me, thank you all, thank you to France Football, UEFA and everyone who voted for me, it’s a special moment for me.”
He added, “I thank my wife and thank a special person who supported me and believed in me since I was young, my agent Pablo, and I can’t forget my teammates, football is a team game, and I thank Manchester City very much.”
Rodri continued his speech, “I address my teammates, Carvajal deserved to be here too, and Lamine Yamal I’m sure he will be able to achieve this award.”
He continued, “Today I received many messages from friends who told me that today football won, and the spotlight is shining more on the midfielders and what we do.”
“I will celebrate the award with the people who love me, those who were with me in the hard times. I think I will sleep tonight with the Ballon d’Or,” he concluded.
