Real Madrid star Rodrygo has revealed that his coach Carlo Ancelotti was very angry with his team’s players between the halves of the match against Espanyol on Saturday.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, before Real managed to come back from a goal down to win 4-1 and reach second place in La Liga.
Rodrigo spoke to the media after the match and said: “The coach told us before the match that we have always been very bad in the first halves of previous matches.”
He added: “We only scored against Real Mallorca in the first half, we had to improve against Espanyol and we were better but we didn’t score either.”
He continued: “Ancelotti was also angry with us today because we only scored in the second half.”
He concluded: “There is a great atmosphere in the players’ room, there is complete respect between us.”
It is noteworthy that Ancelotti previously stressed that “performance” does not matter to him as much as the ability to achieve victories, and this is what also matters only to Real Madrid fans.
