Cristiano Ronaldo said that he will not retire from football before achieving a goal that he has been striving for since the beginning of his career.
During his conversation with Rio Ferdinand on the Don’s YouTube channel, Ronaldo confirmed that he aspires to reach goal number 1,000 in his football career.
So far, the 39-year-old has scored 899 goals, whether with the clubs he attended or the Portuguese national team.
Ronaldo did not stop there, but rather belittled football legend Pele, who is the historical scorer in football with 1,281 goals.
The Portuguese continued, “The difference between me and the old stars is that all my goals are documented on videos.”
Indeed, Pele’s goals are subject to many doubts, considering that a large part of them were in amateur and exhibition matches, unlike Ronaldo, Messi, and even Diego Armando Maradona.
Given Ronaldo’s goal rate, reaching 1,000 goals does not seem impossible.
The former Real Madrid star, for example, scored 45 goals last season with Al-Nassr, and if he continues at the same pace for two seasons, his goal may inevitably be achieved.
