“Marca” has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has turned on Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro and now welcomes his dismissal before the start of the Saudi league.
The Portuguese legend’s reaction came in the wake of the heavy 4-1 defeat to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final, which further fueled the fans’ anger towards the coach as well.
Ronaldo’s relationship with Castro was very good, and it is said that the 39-year-old was the reason behind Al-Nassr’s signing of the coach. However, the decline in results and levels has made the Don realize that it is time to sever ties with his compatriot.
According to the report, Al-Nassr’s management shares the same opinion as Ronaldo and has already made the final decision to sack the coach in the coming days.
Al-Nassr’s management is waiting to complete the agreement with a replacement coach, after which they will inform the Portuguese coach of his dismissal.
“Marca” indicates that former Porto coach Sergio Conceicao is the favorite to succeed Castro at Al-Nassr, and the next few hours could see the start of negotiations between the two parties.
Castro took over as coach of Al-Nassr last season, but failed to win any official titles, and only managed to win the Arab Club Champions Cup.
Castro lost to Al-Hilal five times over the past year in various competitions, finished runner-up in the Saudi league and King’s Cup, and was eliminated from the Asian Champions League in the quarter-finals.
In the same context, Foot Mercato revealed that Ronaldo’s relationship with his colleague Sadio Mane has collapsed in recent days.
Because of this, Al-Nassr management is currently working to get rid of the Senegalese international in the remaining days of the Mercato, despite previous assurances that the player will remain in the new season.
