Mohamed Salah expressed his happiness with renewing his contract with Liverpool, noting that his family, especially his daughter Makka, wanted to continue in the city.
Liverpool officially announced the Egyptian international’s two-year contract renewal, bringing to an end a controversy that has been raging since last October regarding the player’s future.
In an interview with Liverpool’s official website, Salah said about the renewal, “It’s great. I’ve spent the best years of my life here. I’ve played for eight years, and I hope it’s ten.
He added, “Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. We had a great team before, too. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win more titles and enjoy football.”
He continued, speaking about his family, “They feel like they’re at home. They were very happy. Maggie and the kids were very happy that we were staying for another two years.”
He continued, “I think Makka was the happiest in the family. She wanted us to stay. Of course, we all wanted to stay, but Mecca is here because of her friends and school.” It was a very good feeling after signing.”
Regarding his goals this season with Liverpool, he continued, “I think I said at the beginning of the season, ‘I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else.’ There are still seven games left, and it won’t be easy at all because Arsenal are chasing us.”
