Liverpool player Cody Gakpo has won the Reds’ Player of the Month award for January.
The Dutchman ended Mohamed Salah’s monopoly on this award after he won it for the last 3 consecutive months and before that in August.
The 18th player received the award after topping a public poll on Liverpool’s official website, beating Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai who came in second and third place respectively.
Gakpo scored four goals and made one assist in seven matches he played with coach Arne Slot’s squad last January.
Gakpo commented on winning this award, saying, “It is an acknowledgement from the fans of the hard work I put in for the team and it is always nice to receive this great appreciation.”
He continued, “I think it usually goes to Mohamed Salah, which is logical! But I am very happy to win it this month.”
