Santos director raises controversy over Neymar’s imminent return

Santos CEO Mario Calves believes that Neymar may return to the Brazilian club by 60% next summer.

Rumors about Neymar’s way out of Al Hilal after the Saudi club’s patience with him ran out due to his frequent injuries do not stop, and Santos appears as a very likely destination.

Santos’ vice president had previously said in previous statements that his club had an agreement with Neymar to return, but next summer and not in January, which Calves also hinted at.

Calves was asked about Neymar’s return, and he replied, “I think 60% that Neymar will join us when his contract with Al Hilal ends.”

He also added, “Currently, there are no negotiations between us and Neymar, but we certainly dream of him returning to Santos. He has a great relationship with everyone here and he started his career and shine through us.”

“Neymar may accept a salary cut because he loves Santos so much and wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup with Brazil,” he concluded.

The Santos vice president’s statements come hours after a report spread like wildfire that Neymar wanted to move to Inter Miami and play with Lionel Messi again, leaving the player’s future unclear, whether regarding the date of his departure from Al Hilal or his next destination.
