Saudi media reported that Saudi Yelo League star Romarinho has been proven to have taken doping after his sample tested positive.
Romarinho previously played with Al-Ittihad in the Roshn League and was one of the most important players for the dean in the past decade, before moving to Neom last summer.
Romarinho underwent a periodic doping test, and his sample came back positive, making him subject to a very long suspension by the Anti-Doping Committee.
According to the newspaper “Al-Riyadhiyah” and quoting a source close to the player, he had taken some pills to help him have children and did not know that they contained stimulants.
The source said, “Throughout his career, Romarinho has not taken anything illegal, but this time it is related to his marital life.”
He added, “The player was trying to have a second child, and the doctor directed him to take some medications to help him do so, but unfortunately he did not tell him that they contained stimulants.”
“Romarinho is in shock and can’t believe what happened at all. His legal team and the club have started working to prove his innocence,” he concluded.
