Severe criticism of Emam Ashour for the way he took the penalty against Pyramids (Video)

Emam Ashour has come under severe criticism from Al-Ahly fans for the penalty kick he wasted in the Pyramids match on Sunday.

The score was tied 2-2 when referee Mahmoud Al-Banna decided to award a controversial penalty kick in favor of Al-Ahly in the last moments.

Emam Ashour, who has scored most of Al-Ahly’s goals in the recent period, and scored a penalty kick against Farco last round, was assigned the task of taking the decisive kick.

The Egyptian international chose to take the ball in the Panenka style, and it was indeed on its way to the goal after Ahmed El-Shennawy threw himself in another corner, but it hit the crossbar.

Immediately, criticism of the former Zamalek player escalated, as many believed that he should have taken it in a normal way instead of taking the risk that cost Al-Ahly two very valuable points.

Zamalek has benefited the most from this draw, if it wins against El Gouna on Monday it will reach 20 points, one point behind the leader Pyramids, and ahead of Al Ahly, which has 19 points.

It is worth noting that Imam Ashour has scored 7 goals this season in 18 matches he played in all tournaments, and made 3 other goals.
