Zamalek coach Jose Gomez has resigned from coaching the White Castle, according to Egyptian media.
The Portuguese coach contacted Zamalek President Hussein Labib, apologizing for not continuing in his position.
Gomez asked Labib to settle the matter amicably in appreciation of the distinguished period he lived with Zamalek and his desire not to cause crises for the club.
According to recent reports, Gomez left Zamalek not due to administrative differences or the like, but because there was a large offer from another club.
The Portuguese will return to work again in the Saudi League, but this time through Al-Fateh Club, which is at the bottom of the Roshn League.
The Zamalek administration had tried to renew Gomez’s contract in recent months, but the coach requested $120,000 per month, an amount that is difficult to arrange in light of the club’s difficult economic situation.
With the arrival of Al-Fateh’s offer and the large financial compensation, Gomez decided to leave, and it is expected that the matter will be officially announced within the next few hours.
It is noteworthy that Gomez has led Zamalek since the beginning of 2024 and succeeded in achieving the African Confederation Cup and the African Super Cup with the sons of Helmy Zamoura.
