In clear words, Barcelona President Joan Laporta announced that his club would not sign Erling Haaland, explaining that the Manchester City star would destroy the Catalan club if he joined him.
Spanish media reported that Barcelona sporting director Deco met with Haaland’s agent in preparation for a major deal next summer or 2025.
Laporta was asked about the possibility of Haaland joining Barcelona during an interview with Mundo Deportivo newspaper, and his answer was very shocking.
The Catalan president said, “I do not see that we need to sign big players and make a deal like Haaland because it will destroy the team.”
He also added, “We are now a fairly balanced team economically, however we plan to do other deals.”
He concluded, “Next summer we want to make two deals for players of the caliber of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal, and we will be strong with the return of Pedri, Javi, and Frenkie de Jong.”
Laporta’s statements come hours after other similar statements he made about Real Madrid’s inclusion of Kylian Mbappe would destroy the locker room due to his high salary.
