Barcelona is exploring all available options to strengthen its left-wing position after the failure to sign Nico Williams, and a rather shocking name has started to emerge in recent hours.
According to Croatian media, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has chosen Ivan Perisic to replace Williams.
The player previously had an outstanding performance under Flick when he coached him at Bayern Munich during the historic treble season, which strengthens the coach’s desire to bring him to Camp Nou.
Perisic could be the ideal option for Barcelona from an economic standpoint, as the Catalan club would not need to pay any transfer fee to sign him, and his salary would not be high, making it easy to register him on the squad.
However, at the same time, there are many question marks about Perisic’s ability to provide the desired contribution, considering that he is 35 years old and the injury he suffered last year.
The Croatian international left Tottenham in January 2024 after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture and played for Hajduk Split last season, seemingly far from the intensity of top-level competition.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona is not the only club interested in signing Perisic, as the player is also being targeted by Sevilla.
