Liverpool manager Arne Slot has hinted at his desire to extend Mohamed Salah’s contract with the Reds, after praising the Egyptian’s physical condition despite reaching the age of 32.
Salah scored a goal and created another in Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Ipswich Town, and was named man of the match in Slot’s first official game in charge of the English club.
Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and expectations are that he will leave Anfield on a free transfer next summer, especially since Liverpool have not yet offered him a renewal.
Speaking about Salah, Slot told the media: “What he does to maintain his fitness and be ready for every game shows that he is still young.”
He added, “What he does makes me think he still has many years left in the game.”
The ‘Egyptian King’ is attracting significant interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, but if he continues his current form, he will have the opportunity to remain in Europe if he decides to leave Liverpool.
Negotiations for a renewal or Liverpool’s final stance on Salah are expected to begin in the coming months, as is the case with Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.
