Sport reported that Neymar tried to return to Barcelona again this summer, but was surprised by the Catalan officials’ rejection of the idea.
Neymar’s contract with Al Hilal is still valid until the end of the season, and the Brazilian player has only played 5 matches with the Saudi club due to his injury with a cruciate ligament rupture last October.
With Barcelona looking to support the left wing position, Neymar saw the opportunity to meet Barca’s need and achieve his dream of returning to Camp Nou again.
According to the report, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is the one who categorically rejected the idea of signing Neymar, and preferred other options, the most prominent of which was Nico Williams.
Despite Barca’s failure to sign Williams, the Neymar option is not acceptable to Flick, who prefers a younger player who is able to exert pressure in the famous way preferred by the German coach.
It remains to be noted that this is the third time that Neymar has been close to returning to Barcelona, after 2020 and the failure of the agreement with Paris Saint-Germain at the last minute, then last summer and before he preferred to join Al-Hilal.
