Surprise: Barcelona Star Could Leave for the Qatari League!

Catalan channel TV3 reported that Ilkay Gundogan is seriously considering leaving Barcelona after receiving a tempting offer from Qatari club Al-Sadd.

This news comes weeks after other reports that Barcelona’s management may be forced to sell a player this summer, with Gundogan at the top of the list, in order to balance the club’s financial situation.

According to the report, Al-Sadd has offered Gundogan a long-term contract of three seasons, with a significant salary increase over what he currently earns at Barcelona.

The German captain’s contract at the Camp Nou expires at the end of next season, but he can renew for a third year depending on his performance.

The 33-year-old is giving Al-Sadd’s offer serious consideration as it would provide him with long-term stability, in addition to concerns that he may not be a regular starter in Hansi Flick’s squad next season.

The relationship between Flick and Gundogan is excellent since their time together in Germany, but with Barcelona’s potential signing of Dani Olmo, the priority is likely to be to play the Spanish player for several reasons, most notably age.

For their part, Barcelona are not against selling Gundogan as long as the financial offer is appropriate, as he is not on the list of untouchable players, which includes the likes of Pedri and goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
