The “Relevo” network reported that Al-Ittihad star Karim Benzema is considering retiring from football at the end of the current season.
The network listed the reasons for the French star’s thinking about this step, the most important of which is physical exhaustion as he is 36 years old.
Benzema suffers a lot in Saudi Arabia due to the high temperatures and having to train daily in the morning, which is something he can no longer bear much at the moment.
At the same time, Benzema is facing mental difficulties in Saudi Arabia, and this is specifically crystallized last season when he was subjected to a torrent of attacks from fans that forced him to close his Instagram account.
Benzema has not made his final decision in this regard yet, but it is certain according to the report that the idea has been on his mind recently and he now sees that what he has presented in football is enough.
In the same context, the Al-Ittihad management will most likely not object to the idea, as it wants to exploit Benzema’s high salary in order to conclude other contracts with more useful players.
As for Benzema, his plan after retirement is to work as a Real Madrid ambassador, like the rest of the club’s legends, and he specifically plans to occupy this position for the Middle East region.
It is worth noting that things have improved a lot for Benzema at the Union this season with the arrival of Laurent Blanc to coach the Dean, as he scored 10 goals and made 3 others in 11 matches in all competitions.
