The British newspaper “The Times” revealed that the 2034 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, will not be played in the summer as usual.
Throughout history, the World Cup was played between June and July, with the exception of the last Qatar 2022 edition, which was held between November and December.
The 2026 World Cup will be played in America, Canada and Mexico in the summer, as well as the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal and Morocco also between June and July.
However, according to “The Times”, the 2034 World Cup will be played in the winter due to the high temperatures in Saudi Arabia during the summer months.
The World Cup will not be played as it was in Qatar between November and December, but FIFA is leaning towards having the World Cup start in January 2034.
The reason for the tournament being played in January at the beginning of the year and not in November or December as in Qatar is most likely because the holy month of Ramadan will be during the same period, so it is better for the football events to be at a different time.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia’s file for the 2034 World Cup received the highest rating among the files submitted to host the World Cup throughout history.
