Surprise: Marmoush almost played for a national team other than Egypt!

Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush revealed that he almost played for a national team other than Egypt, had he not ultimately decided to wait for the Pharaohs.

According to the current Bundesliga top scorer, his parents traveled to Canada and lived there for 6 years, so he and his family already have Canadian citizenship.

At the beginning of his career with Wolfsburg, Marmoush received a call from the Canadian national team coach inviting him to join the team.

Marmoush says in this regard, “The Canadian coach called me more than once and wanted me to join the national team and assured me that I was part of his project for a strong team that wanted to reach the World Cup.”

He also added, “I went to Ottawa several times, but I have always lived in Egypt and I am 100% Egyptian, so I decided to wait until I had the opportunity to play for the Egyptian national team, and that happened.”

Marmoush joined the Egyptian national team for the first time on October 8, 2021, during the period when Carlos Queiroz was coach of the Pharaohs.

At that time, Marmoush was playing with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and was one of the stars of the southern club, before his loan there ended and he returned to Wolfsburg and spent a final season there, then moved for free to Frankfurt and exploded over the last two seasons.
