Real Madrid star Rodrygo isn’t happy. He feels marginalized and not playing in his original position as a left winger, according to the “El Chiringuito” program, revealing that the Brazilian’s departure next summer has become a possibility.
The 24-year-old’s contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2028, and his recent statements have confirmed that he prefers to remain at Los Blancos. However, the dynamics on the ground reveal a very different picture.
The program quoted a reliable source as saying that Rodrygo’s father met with Manchester City officials in recent weeks to discuss the possibility of his son moving to the English club next summer.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of Rodrygo. English media outlets have previously confirmed that he is his favorite player among Real Madrid’s stars. Interest in signing him is not new, but has been ongoing for more than a year.
City has already offered Rodrygo’s father a salary higher than his current salary at Real Madrid, as well as guaranteeing him a spot on the left wing, with the added benefit of working with an injured Guardiola who is eager to regain his form next season.
The position of Rodrygo’s father and the player himself on the idea remains unknown, but it is an option on the table, especially given the Brazilian’s marginalization with the presence of Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé.
It should be noted that Rodrygo has played 41 matches for Real Madrid this season in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists.
