“Sport” newspaper indicated that Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, has developed a smart plan for the continuation of Xavi, who believes that he is the ideal choice to lead the Catalan project.
This plan is to grant him a new long-term contract, which means that if he continues, he will not only continue as Barcelona coach until the end of next season, as his current contract stipulates.
At the same time, there will be confirmations of the inclusion of the best players in the world next summer, in addition to the major blow of including Erling Haaland instead of Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2025.
This plan involves one idea, which is for Xavi to succeed in achieving the La Liga or Champions League title, and then Laporta believes that he will definitely succeed in convincing the coach to continue.
The Catalan president realizes that Xavi still enjoys the trust of all the senior players in Barcelona’s locker room, and that no one wants change now except the coach who is tired of a lot of pressure.
