Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish League, has sparked a great deal of controversy with statements in which he attacked Real Madrid and Barcelona.
It is known that Tebas’s relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is very tense, and his relationship with Barça president Joan Laporta has recently deteriorated.
Despite his sensitive position, Tebas spoke clearly and frankly in a television interview about the crises of La Liga due to Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Tebas: Real Madrid is a crying club
When talking about the refereeing crisis and Real Madrid, he replied by saying, “The Spanish Federation is not looking for a solution and Real Madrid TV does not stop stirring up the table and telling a lot of lies.”
He also added, “All clubs complain about refereeing, but Real Madrid highlights the matter and tells misleading stories. I am certain that a large number of the club’s fans do not agree with what the management is doing there.”
“Real Madrid have become a club that complains and cries all the time, they cry for their next match, they will continue to cry before every match, and all because of an alleged conspiracy,” he continued.
“If you do a referendum, the clubs will say that Real Madrid and Barcelona benefit the most from refereeing mistakes, but they don’t have a channel to say that, Real Madrid’s channel is the only one that talks about this matter.”
Tebas: Barcelona is corrupt in sport
Regarding the case of Barcelona and the former vice-president of the referees’ committee, Negreira, Tebas said, “We asked for the case to be referred to court because we believe that there is sufficient evidence to confirm that Barcelona committed a crime of sporting corruption.”
He continued, answering the possibility of Barcelona being relegated if the charge is proven, “No, I do not make sports laws and I must abide by what the sports law stipulates, in this case, the statute of limitations for crimes is 3 years and we cannot invent a different statute of limitations, so there will be no relegation.”
Tebas: I support Real Madrid but their crisis is Perez
Tebas revealed that he is a Real Madrid fan, and said, “I am happy when Real Madrid wins and I was very happy when they won the Champions League, but I am simply not a Florentino Perez fan.”
He added, “I cannot imagine La Liga without Real Madrid, but Florentino Perez is a stubborn person and never wants to lose. If the Super League does not succeed, he will say that everything that happens will be thanks to him.”
He concluded, “The football that Florentino Perez promotes serves some rich clubs, it represents football for the rich only, he wants to control everything, especially the money that is distributed in the tournaments.”
