Barcelona goalkeeper and captain, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, has issued a challenge to Real Madrid ahead of their upcoming friendly match in the United States on Sunday morning.
The German goalkeeper said in statements carried by Marca, “El Clásico is a special match and cannot be considered a friendly under any circumstances.”
He added, “It is a very important match and we are preparing for it with all our strength and we want to achieve victory.”
Barcelona previously met Real Madrid in America last year, and Xavi Hernandez’s team managed to win 3-0.
However, in the official matches last season, Real Madrid won three times against the Catalan club, twice in La Liga and once in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Real Madrid will be missing a number of players for rest, most notably Kylian Mbappe, and the same goes for Barcelona, who played one friendly, which they won on penalties against Manchester City.
