Ter Stegen responds to reports of his wife cheating on him

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has launched a scathing attack on the Spanish media, describing reports of his wife Daniela Gehl cheating on him as “fake news”.

Ter Stegen and Gehl, who began their relationship in 2012 and moved to Barcelona together in 2014, officially announced their separation after nearly eight years of marriage, and they have two children.

Rumors later spread from the Catalan media that the separation was due to the wife cheating on her husband with her personal trainer.

Ter Stegen wrote on his Instagram account in response to these rumors: “I am shocked and disappointed by the mismanagement and lack of leadership and oversight at Radio Catalunya and the 3 Cat group – spreading false news and violating personal rights.”

“Journalists Juliana Canet, Roger Carandell and Marta Montaner are liars who have spread false news, and have harmed my wife Daniela and her reputation in a very bad way. There has been no betrayal by Daniela. There is no third party involved. This is a fact,” he added.

“As announced, Danny and I have decided to go our separate ways in good conditions where we maintain reliable communication. It is absolutely unacceptable for leading state media to publish this, where Daniela is falsely accused and personally attacked. The damage is irreparable.”
