The Athletic has revealed details of the Saudi Arabian offer made to Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior in recent hours.
News had emerged on Monday evening of a monstrous offer made to the Brazilian to move to the Saudi Pro League, but he rejected it and decided to stay with Real Madrid.
Hours later, The Athletic provides details of the offer, which is said to be the biggest in the history of football.
According to the report, the Saudi Pro League offered Vinicius a salary of €200 million per year, with a 5-year contract, meaning his total earnings would have been €1 billion.
At the same time, the Saudi Pro League was prepared to pay a staggering amount to Real Madrid to buy Vinicius, which would have made it the most expensive transfer in the history of football.
Brazilian media reported that the club Vinicius was supposed to join if he accepted this offer was Al-Ahli Jeddah, and not Al-Hilal or Al-Nassr as expected.
Ultimately, Vinicius rejected the offer and is determined to stay with Real Madrid for as long as possible, while Real Madrid’s stance was also firm that the 24-year-old is not for sale under any circumstances.
It is worth noting that Vinicius’ contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2027, and it includes a €1 billion release clause.
