The competition between Al-Somah and Hamdallah for the historical top scorer in the Saudi League is heating up

A special kind of struggle is taking place in the Saudi League these days, which is the struggle for the title of the historical top scorer in the competition.

The legend Majed Abdullah maintains his position as the historical top scorer in the competition of all time with 189 goals scored between 1977 and 1997 with Al-Nasr.

But since the start of the professional era in 2008, the struggle has become specifically between the duo Abdul Razzaq Hamdallah and Omar Al-Somah.

On Thursday, Hamdallah scored a hat-trick in Al-Shabab’s 5-1 win over Al-Khaleej, and reduced the gap with Al-Somah, who recently returned to the Saudi League through Al-Orobah Club.

The Syrian striker responded on Friday by scoring two goals in Al-Orobah’s 4-2 win over Al-Wahda.

The Syrian has scored 146 goals with Al-Ahli from 2014 to 2022 and now with Al-Orobah, compared to 141 goals for Hamdallah, who played for Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad and finally Al-Shabab.

This conflict between the Moroccan and the Syrian will likely continue until the end of their careers, given that they never stop scoring regardless of the surrounding circumstances.

It is worth noting that Al-Somah is the third top scorer in the Saudi League throughout history, after Majed Abdullah and Nasser Al-Shamrani (167 goals).
