Fermin Lopez left the Spain U21 team camp after suffering a muscle injury, according to what the Spanish Football Federation announced.
The star of the club was with the Matador country to play the matches against Scotland and Hungary, and in the second training session he was injured and it was decided that he would return again to Catalonia to undergo treatment.
According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Lopez’s injury is not insignificant, and he will be away from the stadiums for a relatively long period because of it.
Initial estimates indicate that the 21-year-old will need at least a month to recover and be able to participate in group training again.
Lopez’s injury may not come as a surprise given that he participated in Euro 2024 with Spain and the Paris 2024 Olympics with the Spanish Olympic team, so he did not get enough rest, repeating the scenario of Pedri in 2021.
Barcelona’s management is currently hoping that Lopez will recover according to the plan in place so that he can be part of Hansi Flick’s squad in the Clasico against Real Madrid on October 27.
It is worth noting that Lopez, who participated in three La Liga matches with Barça this season, is the second injury for the Blaugrana in the midfield after Marc Bernal, who is scheduled to be absent for about a year after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture.
