Egypt played the extra time with 10 men after Omar Fayed received a red card for two yellow cards.
With this result, Egypt’s semi-final curse continues, as this is the third time the Pharaohs have reached this stage and failed to reach the final.
Now, Egypt will face Morocco in a repeat of the recent Africa U-23 Cup of Nations final to determine the bronze medal winner.
It’s worth noting that this medal would be the first-ever medal in the history of Arab countries in a team sport at the Olympics.
