Hull City player Jaden Philogene announced that he will not join Barcelona in the current summer Mercato, noting that his final decision came to move to the English Premier League.
Over the past few days, Barcelona has tried to obtain the signature of the 22-year-old player on a one-year loan with the right to buy clause.
But Barcelona faced fierce competition from several English clubs, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Everton sent stronger financial offers for the player.
Philogene went out to the media announcing his decision, saying, “I decided to join the English Premier League because it is the clearest offer I have received.”
At the same time, the young left-winger refused to close the door on a future move to Barcelona, saying: “Joining La Liga remains my dream.”
He concluded, “Barcelona is my dream. I hope to join it one day. Ronaldinho and Neymar are my role models.”
Barcelona is looking for a left winger at an economical cost in line with the critical situation of the Catalan club, which made Philogene an ideal choice, but in the end the player was excluded from the calculations after his clear decision to continue in England.
