The Labor Court in Mainz ruled that the Mainz club’s termination of Anwar El Ghazi’s contract due to his support for the Palestinian cause was invalid.
Al-Ghazi published posts on his social media accounts in which he supported the Palestinian cause against the Israeli aggression, leading Mainz to terminate his contract in November 2023.
Al-Ghazi resorted to the judiciary to demand his rights, and the case was heard before the Labor Court in Mainz, and the judiciary confirmed that what the club did was illegal.
Accordingly, Al-Ghazi has the right to obtain the full remainder of his contract with Mainz, meaning that the German club will have to pay 1.7 million euros to the 29-year-old in order to end the contractual relationship between the two parties.
Al-Ghazi did not join any club after his crisis with Mainz, and now his reputation has been restored after the major attack he was subjected to from the German fans and the accusations of anti-Semitism directed against him.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ghazi still does not stop publishing publications in which he supports the Palestinian cause and denounces the war on Gaza.
