The Spanish High Sports Council (CSD) has ruled in favor of Barcelona against La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in the dispute over the refusal to register the duo Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
La Liga and the RFEF rejected Olmo and Victor last January due to Financial Fair Play regulations, before Joan Laporta’s administration succeeded in selling a portion of the VIP box at Camp Nou to close the gap.
However, the CSD determined that no amount from the VIP box agreement was ultimately recorded in the profit and loss accounts, contrary to what was approved by the club and the auditor at the time of the deal.
Barcelona ultimately obtained temporary authorization for the duo ahead of the Spanish Super Cup final, and the matter was then escalated to the CSD, which issued its decision on Thursday evening.
In its reasoning for its decision, the CSD stated that the joint committee that decided to revoke the players’ licenses due to insufficient financial guarantees “was not competent.”
La Liga immediately appealed the ruling, but until the ruling is decided, Olmo and Victor’s participation with Barça is not in danger, and they are expected to continue until the end of the season without any complications.
