Real Madrid’s efforts to include the best South American talents do not stop, and the latest name is River Plate’s Franco Mastantuno, who is nicknamed the “Jewel of South America.”
The 16-year-old can play in all midfield positions, and particularly excels in attacking roles, which has attracted the attention of several clubs recently.
According to the famous journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid has already contacted the River Plate management to try to sign Mastantuno in the coming period.
The young player’s contract with the Argentine club is supposed to expire in 2024, but there are attempts to deal with him in the same way as the other gem, Claudio Echeveri.
Echeveri was out of contract at the end of the year, and Manchester City bought him from River Plate for a large sum while keeping him on loan for another year, a scenario that may be repeated in the case of Mastantuno.
Given his age, the player cannot join Real Madrid before he turns eighteen, and so his continuation in South America is the only option available to the Royal Club.
Merengue officials believe that Mastantuno’s amazing potential could develop, and with it they could gain a new player similar to another gem previously signed from South America but from Uruguay, Fede Valverde.
