The Egyptian Olympic Committee issued its decision on the complaint filed by Al Ahly against the Egyptian Football Association and the Professional Clubs Association regarding the Zamalek match crisis.
Al Ahly withdrew from the Zamalek match due to its refusal to have an Egyptian referee and filed a complaint against the association and the association, claiming that there was correspondence proving the intention to assign the match to a foreign refereeing team.
The Olympic Committee referred the complaint to its Committee of Clubs and Bodies to review the case and issue a final decision.
According to Egyptian media reports, the Olympic Committee on Tuesday approved the Committee’s decision not to accept Al Ahly’s complaint regarding the summit match crisis.
Thus, Al Ahly was deemed to have forfeited the match 3-0 for not attending the stadium, with three points deducted at the end of the season. It will also bear the economic losses resulting from not playing the match.
It is assumed that Al-Ahly will not stop here, but will likely escalate the matter to FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), even if the Red Club’s position appears weak and without legal basis.
