The Second Victim: Manchester City Informs Silva of His Departure

Manchester City’s revolution and renewal process continues, and the English club’s management has settled on the departure of a new star after Kevin De Bruyne.

Sky Sports reported that City officials have clearly informed Bernardo Silva that he is not in the club’s plans for next season and that he must find a new club.

Bernardo’s contract with City still runs until the summer of 2026, with a release clause of €60 million, but the club is prepared to sell him for a much lower price.

As for the player, he is considering returning to Portugal and playing for Benfica for a few years before retiring from football.

The 30-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi League, but he has not yet made a decision. His biggest dream remains a move to Barcelona.

It’s unlikely that Barcelona will make a move for Silva, given his advancing age and apparent decline in form, and the speculation surrounding the Catalan club’s midfield.

It should be noted that Bernardo is a City legend, having made 347 appearances since moving to the Etihad Stadium from Monaco in 2017, achieving numerous accomplishments, most notably the 2022 Champions League title.
