Neymar aims to return to Barcelona next season, and believes in his chances of convincing the Catalan club officials that he is still able to play in Europe again.
Neymar moved to Santos on a 6-month contract after terminating his contract with Al Hilal, and although logic says that he will continue for a longer period with his parent club, the player’s ambitions are very different.
According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Neymar wants the next six months with Santos to be just preparation for his return to Europe, specifically to Barcelona.
One of the reasons that prompted him to terminate his contract with Al Hilal is his desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt again, and Santos is just a gateway to achieving this goal.
So far, Barcelona is not thinking of signing Neymar, but the 31-year-old will offer his services once he regains his level and presents what convinces the Catalan officials during his experience in Brazil.
Neymar’s main goal remains to prepare in the best possible way to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Brazilian national team, and his view is that this cannot be achieved with Santos, and that he is still capable of playing at the highest levels.
Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, had confirmed that the idea of signing Neymar is possible given his great value as a player, but if it happens, he will have to make major economic concessions.
