Bayern Munich’s management has decided not to renew the contract of one of its most important legends of the past decade, Thomas Müller, and will be satisfied with his contributions over more than 15 years with the Bavarian club.
The German international renewed his contract last summer for another year and recently entered into negotiations with Bayern’s management to continue with the Bavarians until the 2026 World Cup.
According to Bild, during these talks, Müller was informed that Bayern Munich did not intend to renew his contract.
Bayern’s management offered Müller retirement and then a management position at the club, and there is a belief that the 35-year-old can play an excellent ambassadorial role for the club in the next phase.
Müller has not yet decided whether to hang up his boots at the end of the season or move to a new club inside or outside Europe, noting that he has recently received numerous offers from the American League.
Müller made his debut for Bayern Munich in 2009, before he turned 18, and has since become a mainstay at the Allianz Arena.
Müller has made 742 appearances for Bayern Munich in all competitions, scoring 247 goals and providing 273 assists.
The German international has won 12 Bundesliga titles, two Champions League titles, six DFB-Pokal titles, eight German Super Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Club World Cups.
