Transfer Market U-Turn: Barcelona’s Hopes of Signing Joao Felix Dashed

A dramatic turn of events in the summer transfer market has dealt a blow to Barcelona, preventing them from extending Joao Felix’s stay at Camp Nou.

Atletico Madrid were on the verge of selling Samuel Omorodion to Chelsea, but the deal collapsed at the last minute, jeopardizing the Rojiblancos’ pursuit of Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is now working with Atletico Madrid on a different deal to compensate for the Omorodion deal.

The Spanish club has proposed that Chelsea buy Joao Felix, who does not want to stay in Madrid and also has no place in Diego Simeone’s plans.

At the same time, Atletico will sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, making it financially feasible to complete the deal for Julian Alvarez.

Initially, things look positive between all parties, and Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is in London to negotiate with Chelsea about a possible return for his client to Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese international was previously loaned to Chelsea for six months, during which he played 20 games and scored 4 goals.

It’s worth noting that Barcelona wanted to sign Felix on another year-long loan or for a fee not exceeding €30 million, which Atletico Madrid rejected, forcing the player to return and train with Simeone’s squad since the end of Euro 2024.
